Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actor and producer. She is gaining recognition for her outstanding roles in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Piano, as well as The Incredibles. Her film Piano won her an Oscar. The accomplished actress started her career in acting by performing on stage, by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth grade production. The fifth grade was the year that following a bout of mumps, she lost hearing in the left ear. She did not let it stop her from performing. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Through a random encounter, she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart and became Hunter's debut. When she moved into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find film roles. An supporting role was secured for Swing Shift. She has since appeared in a variety of TV movies and series in a long career that spans over three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
